Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Newton-Wellesley Hospital is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the operating room. The role emphasizes preparation of the OR, sterile setup, patient transport, passing instruments, and maintaining sterile technique.

You will document procedures, collaborate with the surgical team, support infection control, and participate in ensuring patient safety during surgeries.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• BLS certification required; CST/NBSTSA preferred.
• Licenses/certifications in related fields preferred as noted.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
• Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgery.
• Transport patients to the OR and assist with positioning.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team during procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and instrument sterility.
• Document surgical procedures and counts accurately.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists.
• Assist in preparing the surgical site with drapes and solutions.
• Manage surgical drains and catheters as directed.
