Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program.
• New hires should obtain certification within one month of hire.
• Demonstrates ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.

Responsibilities

• Assists Circulating nurse to set up for procedures with instrumentation and supplies.
• Passes instruments to the surgeon at the sterile field.
• Maintains sterile technique and asepsis throughout procedures.
• Assists in instrument care and sponge/sharps counts per policy.
• Participates in quality improvement and safety initiatives.
• Communicates effectively with the surgical team.
• May handle on-call assignments for specified nights or weekends.
