Job summary

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. The role involves 40 hours per week across four 10-hour shifts and roles in assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth, safe procedures.

Responsibilities include preparing the OR, handling sterile equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and maintaining accurate procedure counts and documentation. BLS and CST are preferred certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience as Surgical Technologist I or similar role 0-1 year required; 1-2 years preferred.
• BLS Certification and CST NBSTSA preferred; state license as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
• Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment required for the surgery.
• Transport patients to the operating room, assist with positioning and safety during procedures.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures.
• Follow sterilization techniques to ensure sterility of instruments and supplies.
• Maintain documentation of surgical procedures and counts.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team.
• Assist in preparing the surgical site and managing drains and catheters.
