Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the Perioperative Services team. You will assist the surgeon and prepare the OR with instruments and supplies.

You must maintain sterile technique, participate in counts, and support care from infancy to geriatrics. This 8-hour shift includes weekend call, teamwork, and strict adherence to departmental policies and safety.

Qualifications

• Requires vocational/technical training in surgical technology or completion of a US military or PHS program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential required.
• BLS/AHA certification within 30 days of hire.
• 0-1 year related work experience.
• Credentialing body recognized by surgical associations acceptable; certification must be obtained within 12 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the OR room with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each procedure as per policy.
• Assist the surgeon and perioperative team during procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and aseptic practices.
• Open sterile supplies and set up procedures following proper counts and handling of specimens.
• Demonstrate competency with electrosurgery, lasers, power equipment, and needle handling.
• Adhere to departmental policies and safety standards; work calmly in emergencies.
