Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist – Non-Certified for the Ambulatory Surgery site in the Tampa area. The role supports the perioperative team under RN supervision, ensuring sterile field setup and proper equipment readiness.

The candidate will prepare instruments and supplies, assist with specimen handling, and may help with patient transport as needed, contributing to efficient surgical workflows and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) from AHA or Red Cross is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room and patients to maintain sterile field.
• Assist with inventory of sterile supplies and order handling.
• Coordinate preparation or disposal of specimens.
• May assist in patient transport and provide perioperative support as directed by RN.

• The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Status: Full Time, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: 6:30am - 3:00pm

Weekend Work: None

On Call: No

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
