Job summary

BayCare Health System's Morton Plant location in Clearwater seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the perioperative team under RN supervision. You will prepare sterile fields, equipment, and assist with specimen handling and OR readiness.

Required accredited Surgical Technology program or military/hospital training with 5 years acute care experience, NBSTSA/NCCT certification, and BLS. Opportunities for professional growth and team mentorship are offered.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT.
• BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross).
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical support in the perioperative period under RN supervision.
• Prepare equipment, instruments, supplies, and the OR to maintain sterile field.
• Coordinate preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
• Assist with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Certified Surgical Technologist

• The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Position Details

Location: Morton Plant

Status: Full Time, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: 7:00am - 3:00pm

Weekend Work: Occasional

On Call: Yes

Requirements

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
