Job summary

BayCare is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for our Lutz, FL location (St Joseph's North). The role is full time with a 6:30am–5:00pm shift, some weekend work, and on-call duties. You will support the perioperative team, ensure sterile technique, and manage instruments and supplies under RN supervision.

Required accreditation in Surgical Technology, NBSTSA/NCCT certification, and BLS. A high school diploma or equivalent is also needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program.
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification required.
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical support in the perioperative period under RN supervision.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Position Description: Certified Surgical Technologist

• The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Position Details:

Location: St Josephs North

Status: Full Time, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: 6:30am - 5:00pm

Weekend Work: Occasional

On Call: Yes

Requirements:

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
