Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in College Station, TX seeks an experienced Surgical Technician 3 to support the operating room team during procedures. You will assist a Registered Nurse, prepare instruments, manage supplies, and ensure sterile technique to maintain safety and efficiency.

Primary duties include instrument setup, counts, draping, and coordinating with surgeons and sterile processing staff. You will follow protocols emphasizing infection control and patient safety.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program
• EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience
• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) and CST certification requirements per NBSTSA/NCCT

Responsibilities

• Talking to the surgeon beforehand concerning special needs and getting ready before they show up
• Cleaning and preparing the surgical area as needed
• Ensuring proper setup and maintenance of the instrument table to prevent instrument damage
• Making sure all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies function as expected during surgical procedures
• Performing counts of all surgical items (sponges, sharps, instruments) following policies
• Anticipating needs of the surgeon and team, offering sterile supplies and equipment
• Assisting in draping and repositioning the patient for the surgical team
• Adhering to infection control policies and OSHA guidelines
• Managing inventory of clean and sterilized surgical equipment and supplies
