Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist 2 to support the operating room team. You will scrub in, prepare the operative site, and maintain sterile instrument tables under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Focus is on patient safety and efficient procedure flow.

Responsibilities include anticipating surgeon needs, passing sterile supplies, assisting with draping/positioning, and ensuring instruments and equipment function correctly throughout surgery.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
• BLS certification on hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Current CST certification NBSTSA/NCCT; if not, prerequisites met.
• Military/Public Health Service ST training or prior practice before 09/01/2009.
• Previous experience in a health care facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub in.
• Prepare operative site and aseptically prep for surgery.
• Maintain instrument table and ensure correct instrument counts.
• Identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies.
• Set up OR according to procedure and arrange sterile supplies.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments and devices during surgery.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments.
