Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Texas is seeking a Surgical Technologist II to support the operating room team. You will scrub in, prepare the operative field, and ensure the sterile setup and instrument readiness for diverse surgical procedures.

Responsibilities include passing instruments, maintaining counts, aiding in patient positioning, and helping with specimen handling while adhering to infection control and safety guidelines. Prior CST certification and accredited training are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Certification as CST by NBSTSA or NCCT is required or preferred.
• Experience or training in military or Public Health Service ST programs is valued.

Responsibilities

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub in on time.
• Prepare the operative site and aseptically assist with patient prep.
• Maintain instrument table and organize supplies for the procedure.
• Identify damaged trays and rectify discrepancies to avoid delays.
• Set up OR according to the procedure and ensure sterile setup.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments and equipment during surgery.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments per policy.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass sterile supplies during surgery.
• Assist with draping, patient positioning, and specimen handling.
• Disassemble instruments and dispose of waste per regulations.
• Prepare soiled instruments for decontamination and ensure instrument readiness.
• Follow infection control policies and OSHA guidelines for safety.
• Maintain inventory of sterile equipment and coordinate supply orders.
