Job summary

Atrium Health Lake Norman is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist to join the Nursing department. The role involves assisting in aseptic technique, preparing and organizing supplies, and supporting the RN circulator before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and current Basic Life Support certification; graduation from a surgical technology program or military OR training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent military training; current certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Possesses a thorough knowledge of aseptic technique and its application.
• Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior, during and after surgical procedure.
• Assists RN circulator in preparation of patient, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment and proper disposition of specimens; assists with room turnover.
• Performs duties according to department policy and procedure.
• Monitors surgical supplies for sterility prior to use and ensures supplies are used judiciously; charges documented/submitted accurately.
• Monitors and documents sterilization activities for completion.
• Attends in-services/staff meetings; participates in Performance Improvement Process.
• Participates in educational opportunities to increase competency and meet personal needs and goals.
• Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and standards.
