Job summary

Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC, seeks an experienced Surgical Technologist to support aseptic technique and assist the RN circulator in preparing patients, assembling supplies and ensuring proper room turnover. You will monitor sterilization and contribute to policy development and quality improvement initiatives.

The role requires lifting up to 35 pounds, strong communication, and adherence to department procedures in a fast-paced OR setting. BLS and surgical tech training are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or military training in surgical tech.
• Current NBSTSA or NCCT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Possesses knowledge of aseptic technique and its application.
• Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments before, during and after procedures.
• Assists RN circulator in patient prep and instrument/room turnover.
• Performs duties per department policies and procedures.
• Monitors sterility of supplies and proper charge documentation.
• Monitors and documents sterilization completion.
• Attends in-services and participates in Performance Improvement.
• Pursues educational opportunities to increase competency and meet goals.
• Assists in development of policies, procedures and standards.
