Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or military training program.
• 5 years of operating room experience in a surgical technologist role.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist.
• Meets ST III qualifications of Surgical Tech Ladder.

Responsibilities

• Maintains aseptic technique and sterile field during procedures.
• Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments before, during and after surgery.
• Assists the RN circulator with patient prep, instrument assembly and room turnover.
• Performs duties per department policy and procedures.
• Monitors sterility and ensures accurate and appropriate charge documentation.
• Documents sterilization activities and ensures completion.
• Attends in-services and participates in Performance Improvement activities.
• Engages in educational opportunities to increase competency.
• Contributes to policy, procedure, and standard development.
• Serves as a preceptor and clinical resource to others.
• Leads unit clinical projects as assigned.
