Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist 2 to support the surgical team. You will scrub into procedures, prepare and maintain instrument sets, and assist with draping and patient positioning under RN supervision.

The role emphasizes infection control, aseptic technique, and adherence to OR protocols to ensure a safe operating room and efficient surgical workflow.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
• Experience: Less than 1 year.
• Certification: CST per NBSTSA/NCCT, or military/public health service ST training.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Scrub into surgery in time to prepare instruments before the surgeon scrubs in.
• Prepare operative site by aseptically cleaning and clipping the patient.
• Prepare and maintain the instrument table and ensure proper instrument counts.
• Identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies to avoid delays or injury.
• Set up the operating room based on schedules; arrange sterile instrument setup for the procedure.
• Ensure proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures.
• Assist with draping, positioning the patient, and passing sterile supplies to the team.
