Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist 2 to assist in the operating room under RN supervision. You will prepare sterile instruments, set up the OR, and anticipate needs of the surgical team.

Responsibilities include scrubbing into procedures, maintaining aseptic technique, performing instrument counts, draping patients, and ensuring equipment functions properly throughout cases.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of infection prevention and regulatory sterilization standards.
• The theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique.
• Knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon and scrub into surgery.
• Prepare operative site and organize instrument tables.
• Identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies.
• Set up operating room according to schedule and ensure needed supplies.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments and equipment during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Assist with draping and positioning the patient.
• Receive specimens and ensure sterile transfer.
• Dispose of sharps, fluids, and waste properly.
• Maintain inventory of sterile equipment and supplies.
