Job summary

Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operating room operations in a dynamic clinical environment.

This role offers a $7,500 hiring incentive for eligible candidates, a $5/hr shift differential for evening, night and weekend shifts, and up to $40,000 in financial support to pursue nursing certification.

Experience includes minimum 1 year, NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist, BLS, and a specialty training program.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a specialty training program.
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
• BLS Certification; NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical operations and prepare operating rooms for surgery.
• Perform sterilization and supply of equipment.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including washing incision sites.
• Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and nurses during surgery.
• Coordinate care in the operating room.
• Prepare operating room supplies and equipment as indicated by surgeon preference cards.
• Practice aseptic techniques while preparing for surgery—scrubs, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping, and setting up the instrument table.
• Identify the correct surgical site with the circulating registered nurse and surgeon before incision.
• Maintain an accurate account of supplies, including sponges, needles, and instruments.
