Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Texas is seeking a Surgical Technologist 2 to support the operating room under a Registered Nurse's supervision. You will prepare instruments, maintain sterile technique, and ensure the OR runs smoothly.

Responsibilities include scrubbing into procedures, setting up the sterile field, passing instruments, counting sponges and instruments, and assisting with specimen handling and dressings while adhering to infection control standards and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Current CST certification (NBSTSA) required or equivalent.
• BLS certification or within 30 days of hire.
• Experience and/or formal ST training in the U.S. military or Public Health Service is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub in on time.
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field and instrument table.
• Identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies.
• Set up operating room per procedure schedule with sterile supplies.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments and assist with draping and positioning.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Assist with specimen handling and placement of dressings after surgery.
• Disassemble instruments and manage decontamination and waste.
• Follow infection control policies and regulatory guidelines to ensure safety.
