Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS required (American Heart Association).
• Graduate of NBSTSA-accredited Surgical Technologist program; certification required upon hire.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of experience as a CST in a large, complex operating room; NYU Surgical Tech Program graduate.

Responsibilities

• Scrub on all surgical procedures in the Operating Room under the direction of a licensed professional nurse and assist the physician in procedural areas.
• Assist on procedures as a secondary circulator and maintain instrument care and sterility.
• Identify and gather supplies and equipment, prepare according to procedure cards, and communicate needs to the RN Circulator.
• Report unexpected events and outcomes to RN staff/leadership in a timely fashion (e.g., counts, specimens, breaks in aseptic technique).
• Provide On-call coverage where applicable.
