Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the OR on the Evening Shift (37.5 hours). Under the direction of a licensed professional nurse, you will scrub on all surgical procedures and assist the physician in procedural areas.

This position requires a surgical tech program graduate with NBSTSA certification and BLS; preferred candidates have 1–2 years of OR experience in a large complex environment. NYU Langone offers competitive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS required (American Heart Association).
• Graduate of an NBSTSA-accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification required upon hire.
• One–Two year experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist in a large complex Operating Room is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Scrub on all surgical procedures in the Operating Room and assist the physician.
• Prepare and gather needed supplies and equipment based on the procedure preference card; escalate needs with the RN Circulator.
• Demonstrate knowledge of instrument care and device handling; assist as a secondary circulator under RN supervision.
• Report unexpected events promptly to RN staff/leadership (e.g., counts, specimens, aseptic technique breaches).
• Provide on‑call coverage where applicable.
• Participate in quality, safety, and performance improvement activities and maintain professional growth.
