Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join our perioperative team at Carillon Outpatient Center in Saint Petersburg, FL. The role involves preparing sterile fields, equipment, and supplies, and supporting surgeons and RNs during procedures.

The position is PRN and requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program (or equivalent) with NBSTSA/NCCT certification and BLS, along with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Responsibilities

• Performs technical support in the perioperative period under RN direction to uphold standards of care.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens and assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Position Description: Certified Surgical Technologist

• The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.

• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.

• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.

• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.

• May assist in patient transport.

Position Details:

Location: Carillon Outpatient Center

Status: PRN, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: M-F varies between 6:45a-5p (8hrs)

Weekend Work : None

On Call: No

Requirements:

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
