Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist Lead to supervise staff and support daily operations in the perioperative setting at Bartow Med Ctr. The role ensures a sterile field, assists with instrument prep, and coordinates specimen handling under RN supervision.

The ideal candidate has surgical tech certification (NBSTSA/NCCT) and a related program diploma, with BLS and HS diploma or equivalent. Standby for day shifts, with occasional weekend work and on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or LPN Technical Diploma with 2 years surgical tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.

Position Description: Surgical Technologist Lead

• Acts as the shift lead to staff and assists management with daily operations of the department.
• The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Requirements

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or LPN Technical Diploma and 2 years surgical technician experience OR completion of a military or hospital based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
