Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the perioperative team as a scrub or circulating member under RN supervision. Requires formal surgical training or certification and BLS within 30 days. The role emphasizes sterile technique and collaboration with surgeons and OR staff.

Responsibilities include maintaining a sterile field, coordinating supplies, documenting patient data, and assisting with patient transport and daily living activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate's degree or Surgical Technology certificate.
• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• Ability to scrub independently and assist in OR procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment and aseptic technique during procedures.
• Coordinates supplies/equipment for efficient department operation.
• Facilitates communication between unit and surgical teams; notifies nursing staff of needs.
• Documents patient data and orders accurately in records.
• Transcribes orders and schedules tests/exams per physician directives.
• Assists with patient activities of daily living and transport when needed.
• Keeps accurate logs of admissions, discharges, transfers, and charges.
• Participates in quality/performance improvement and infection control activities.
• Assists with inventory control and supply chain management.
• Works with surgeons and OR team to prepare trays and instruments for procedures.
