Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operative and invasive procedures in the OR. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, preparing instruments, and collaborating with the surgical team to ensure patient safety.

The role requires BLS certification and an appropriate surgical technology education, with options for Ohio-based Labor and Delivery exceptions. On-call duties and rotating shifts are part of the schedule, with benefits and ongoing competency

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associates Degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology required unless in a Labor and Delivery unit in Ohio where preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists during operative and invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepares sterile supplies and instruments and performs surgical counts with the circulating RN.
• Maintains an organized sterile field and aseptic technique; assists with drapes and provides instruments to the team.
• Retrieves and labels specimens correctly.
• Reports implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing to circulator.
• Prepares for procedures and adapts to special instrument needs for patient populations.
• Assists in CPR as needed.
• Prepares and cleans the operative room post-procedure.
• Participates in safety and competency programs.
• On-call availability as scheduled and able to respond within department time frames.
