Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Tech to support the surgical team. The role involves preparing sterile fields, passing instruments, and maintaining instrument sterility throughout procedures to ensure patient safety.

The Surgical Technician will also assist with positioning, draping, and routine instrument counts while adhering to infection control standards and facility policies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical school background in surgical technology or related field is required.
• Experience in operating room settings and knowledge of sterile technique are essential.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and adherence to infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical cases with proper organization of instruments and supplies.
• Assists surgeon by passing instruments and maintaining asepsis throughout procedures.
• Handles instrument sterilization, inspection, and proper assembly.
• Performs point-of-use cleaning and counts to ensure patient safety.
• Assists in patient positioning, draping, and transfer for procedures.
• Maintains physician preference cards and inventories for procedures.
• Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes instruments following protocols.
• Restocks supplies and ensures OR readiness for subsequent cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliability.
