Job summary

Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. Under supervision, you will assist in setup, transport patients, pass instruments, and help with counts and sutures to ensure a safe surgical flow.

You will participate in time-out procedures, monitor OR conditions, and work as an active member of the Patient Care Team, applying knowledge of SPD sterile room practices and sterile processing policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting: 2-3 years required; 4+ years preferred.
• CSFA or CST certification preferred by NBSTSA.
• Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room and sterile processing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Sets up operating room and equipment independently.
• Assists in positioning patients and passing instruments to surgeons.
• Participates in time-out procedures and counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
• Monitors and maintains sterile conditions in the OR.
• Works as an active member of the Patient Care Team.
