Job summary

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification within 6 months of hire (preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred)
• High School Degree or GED (required)
• Associates Degree or Vocational Certification, Surgical Tech (preferred)
• Minimum of one year perioperative experience, can include military training (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists during operative procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepare and organize sterile supplies and instruments; perform surgical counts with circulating RN.
• Assist with sterile drapes, provide instruments, maintain aseptic field and sterility.
• Retrieve and label specimens; report implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing.
• Prepare case, understand instrument needs for pediatric to geriatric patients.
• Demonstrate patient rights and Advance Directives; assist in CPR as needed.
• Clean and prepare instruments for processing; assist with room decontamination and turnover.
• Promote teamwork, adapt to staffing/scheduling, and pursue ongoing competency.
