Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Surgical Scrub Technologist to assist surgeons by preparing and maintaining a sterile operating room. You will ensure instruments are functional, support patient safety, and participate in performance improvements.

Schedule may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts. 40-hours per week, standard days in a surgical services setting. Compensation ranges reflect local hospital pay practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required or program currently participating in accreditation.
• Less than 1 year experience as a Surgical Scrub technologist.

Responsibilities

• Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures and maintains sterile field.
• Assists surgical team before, during, and after surgery.
• Checks instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications.
• Assists with patient positioning and draping before procedures.
• Performs counts for sponges, needles, and instruments with circulator.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants; maintains sterile field.
• Passes instruments to surgeon during procedures and prepares dressings.
• Assists with room cleaning and prep for next patient.
• Participates in department performance improvement activities.
