Job summary

The Bachrach Group is seeking an experienced Medical Scheduling Coordinator in New York to manage surgical procedures, coordinate dates and locations, and verify insurance authorizations. You will educate patients on pre- and post-operative steps and ensure all documentation is complete.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical administrative certification preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of medical scheduling or healthcare administrative experience preferred.
• Previous surgical scheduling experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and insurance authorization processes.
• Experience using EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with physicians, clinical staff, and patients.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical procedures in coordination with physician availability and facility schedules.
• Coordinate surgery dates, times, and locations with hospitals and surgical centers.
• Obtain and verify insurance authorizations and referrals prior to scheduling.
• Educate patients on surgical preparation and post-operative appointments.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, anesthesia providers, and staff to meet surgical requirements.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance info, and medical records for accuracy.
