Job summary

Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City seeks a Surgical Coordinator to manage the coordination and scheduling of surgeries and post-operative appointments. Under supervision, you will help optimize the daily surgical schedule and ensure smooth patient flow through pre-operative to post-operative steps.

You will liaise between surgeons, OR scheduling teams, and patients, handle pre-certifications and insurance communications, prepare medical charts, and support back-office tasks to ensure timely

Qualifications

• Approximately 2+ years of experience in a patient-facing clinical setting.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding.
• Working knowledge of third party payor reimbursement - Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care and commercial insurance.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgeries and post-operative appointments.
• Monitor surgical schedules and physician availability to manage release times.
• Serve as liaison between surgeon, OR scheduling team, and patients.
• Handle pre-certification, pre-authorization, and insurance communications.
• Prepare patient medical charts and scan documents in the PMS.
• Coordinate and schedule surgical teams, equipment, and materials.
• Provide status updates to surgeons and management; suggest workflow improvements.
