Job summary

Southern Ohio Medical Center seeks a Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to schedule cases for operating rooms, interventional radiology, and maternity C-sections, and to coordinate pre-operative anesthesia consults. The role also handles cardiac testing lab scheduling and ensures efficient use of resources.

You will resolve equipment, supplies, and staff conflicts, publish schedules, process patient charges, coordinate communication with surgeons’ offices, and maintain scheduling records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
• Medical terminology required
• Additional course work in data entry preferred
• Job related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules surgical cases in the surgical computer system as policy dictates.
• Processes patient charges through surgical computer system in an accurate and timely manner.
• Provides Anesthesia provider with anesthesia charge information.
• Accurately journals and checks the operative records.
• Distributes daily and monthly operative statistical reports.
• Prints and distributes surgery schedule as indicated.
• Requests Anesthesia consultation by telephone or computer as needed per physician's order.
