Job summary

Central Ohio Urology Group is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate and schedule surgical procedures across hospitals and centers. You will confirm patient demographics, organize pre/post operative appointments, and ensure timely arrival times, locations, and prep instructions.

You will act as a liaison among patients, physicians, and hospitals; handle insurance pre-authorizations, verify benefits, document in Medent; maintain accurate daily schedules while protecting patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Minimum of three years surgery scheduling experience.
• Medical Assistant Certification or Certified Nursing Assistant Preferred.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Computer Skills: Thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients accurately and efficiently for surgical procedures, including pre and post operative appointments and imaging.
• Provide patients with information regarding their procedure, prep instructions, arrival times, dates, locations, and insurance information.
• Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, staff, physicians, and outside contacts.
• Organize work for efficiency and problem solving as related to surgery scheduling and its impact on physicians and clinical office.
• Serve as contact for hospitals, surgery centers and physicians regarding schedules, procedures, or concerns.
• Obtain prior authorizations and verify insurance benefits; check pre-certifications and referrals.
• Document scheduled surgeries in Medent under chart notes with all demographic and insurance information.
• Reschedule and cancel surgeries and post-op appointments to minimize inconveniences for patients.
