Job summary

Cayuga Health in Ithaca, NY is hiring a Surgical Scheduler to support physicians and staff with daily scheduling, pre-authorizations, and patient coordination. This onsite role involves clerical tasks and direct patient care support in a dynamic practice.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate all surgical procedures, ensuring necessary materials are prepared, and manage pre-clearances and prior authorizations for surgeries.
• Support PSRs by assisting with patient check-ins and check-outs, verifying/updating demographics, scanning insurance cards, and collecting co-pays or outstanding balances.
• Review and confirm all H&Ps and surgical documents for the week to ensure completeness and signatures.
• Handle additional scheduling for labs, x-rays, procedures, and testing, as well as insurance referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Answer and triage incoming calls, take messages, and confirm appointments, including handling patient questionnaires and appointment reminders.
• Check out patients, print CVS, perform daily cash-out, and prepare bank deposits.
• Update patient status in Medent, including appointment confirmations, and manage provider meeting schedules.
• Ensure accurate placement of new and returning patients according to protocol, maintain provider templates, and manage answering service transitions.
