Qualifications

• Good knowledge of anatomy and physiology and a basic knowledge of surgical procedures and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Obtains all necessary information for patient office visit, assembles and completes required paperwork relevant to the type of office visit to be conducted.
• Sends out medical record release forms and required pre-visit paperwork and educational materials to patients for extensive new visits.
• Coordinates daily schedules for providers according to established protocols.
• Organizes, files and scans medical information.
• Works closely with insurance companies to obtain proper certification for appointments and surgery.
• Documents conversations, follows through and assists with resolution of issues.
• Uses good communication skills with patients and families to keep them apprised of progress.
• Provides education and answers questions.
• Sends letters and educational materials when appropriate.
• Tracks patient through pre-determination process.
• Schedules or re-schedules appointments as necessary.
• Tracks no shows and cancelled appointments.
• Works with other AOMC departments to complete the pre-admission and surgical booking process.
• Provides necessary documentation and billing information.
