Job summary

Summit Health in Berkeley Heights, NJ is seeking a Surgical Booking Coordinator to coordinate surgical scheduling, patient preparation, and pre/post-op activities. You will handle pre-authorization with insurers, coordinate implants and supplies, and maintain scheduling records across physician teams.

The role requires strong customer service, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with EMR and office IT tools, with a focus on compliance and staff training.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Prior medical office experience.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Strong knowledge of EMR, computer programs, and typing skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates surgical/procedural scheduling and booking for assigned physician(s).
• Coordinates patient preparation for surgical or other procedures including pre- and post-op appointments.
• Ensures pre-op requirements are met and transmitted to the surgery facility timely.
• Obtains pre-authorization from insurance for procedures when needed.
• Coordinates ordering of implants and other surgical supplies.
• Manages physician office schedules, meetings, and interviews.
• Receives and distributes physician mail as directed.
• Maintains booking records per protocol specialty.
• Manages relationships with outside vendors to ensure contract compliance and support.
• Provides initial and ongoing training of surgical booking to staff.
• Adheres to Compliance Program Policies and OSHA requirements.
• Performs general office duties as assigned.
