Job summary

AdventHealth in Port Charlotte, FL is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduling Associate to coordinate patient scheduling for procedures and manage related paperwork.

You will collect demographics and insurance data, schedule surgeries with physicians and staff, and maintain the operating room calendar. A minimum of 3+ years in healthcare scheduling is required, with EHR scheduling experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in healthcare.
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English.
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to document accurately and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for surgery and completes facility paperwork.
• Obtains scheduling, demographic, insurance, and clinical information to schedule, cancel, or reschedule events.
• Schedules surgeries with physicians and staff.
• Communicates add-on case information to designated departments.
• Responds to inquiries regarding scheduling of surgery and operating room.
• Prepares advance surgical schedule and coordinates with Team Leader and staff.
• Maintains hospital schedules via calls, faxes, etc.
• Assists with orientation of staff as needed.
• Maintains and improves communication and typing accuracy.
