Responsibilities

• Manages and communicates information through computers and phone/paging systems.
• Maintains courteous, helpful, and professional interactions with customers.
• Coordinates patient procedures with anesthesiologist for room and anesthesia availability.
• Coordinates scheduling of surgical procedures for OR, OB and CV suite.
• Schedules OR procedures promptly in scheduling system per protocol.
• Coordinates arrangements with Radiology, OR, ESWL, EEG, Pathology as needed.
• Identifies and schedules pre-op appointments within requested time frames.
• Promotes cross-department communications regarding scheduling of surgical cases.
• Prepares surgical schedule for the next day and notifies relevant staff.
• Solicits surgical volume when block time is available by contacting surgeon offices.
• Notifies Anesthesia, OR, and Ambulatory Surgery of schedule changes.
• Check-in and announce surgeon's arrival to OR on day of surgery.
• Performs duties of Department Secretary II as needed and assists co-workers.
