Job summary

UBMD Obstetrics & Gynecology in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to coordinate surgeries, pre-operative testing, and required paperwork. You will work closely with patients, physicians, and outside facilities to ensure accurate, timely scheduling and documentation.

The role requires scheduling experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and proficiency with EMR systems (Epic preferred). In-person, full-time position with a focus on efficient, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of surgical scheduling experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Experience verifying insurance eligibility, referrals, and prior authorizations.
• Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems (Epic preferred).
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedules surgeries for physicians and coordinates with hospitals and centers.
• Coordinates pre-operative testing, orders, and necessary documentation.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage and obtains authorizations as needed.
• Maintains clear and timely communication with patients, physicians, and staff.
• Submits all required paperwork to facilities within designated timelines.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and adheres to clinic safety protocols.
