Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of direct experience performing the exact or very similar duties required by the job within the same role or function.
• At least 1 year of healthcare experience working in the healthcare industry in any job function.
• At least 1 year of customer/patient-facing experience directly interacting and communicating with the public.

Responsibilities

• Schedule procedures and related services in the EHR, including pre- and post-operative and clearance appointments.
• Coordinate insurance authorizations by gathering docs, diagnosis codes, and procedure codes to enable on-time surgeries.
• Explain surgical timelines, preparation requirements, and insurance steps to patients with clarity and empathy.
• Work with providers and clinical teams to align schedules and ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation including communications with patients, plans, and partners.
• Manage multiple scheduling and authorization requests, prioritizing urgent cases and deadlines.
• Contribute to patient access and surgical readiness through scheduling and authorization.
• Prioritize requests and escalate issues within procedures.
• Work under supervision with accountability for scheduling workflows and documentation.
• Travel between facilities as needed to support operations; have reliable daily transportation.
• Adhere to HIPAA and organizational standards for patient data.
• Support compliance with Joint Commission and health regulations.
• Complete required training and competency validation within timeframes.
• Safeguard data by following security policies and reporting incidents.
• Support cybersecurity and data protection by coordinating vendor risk assessments and monitoring third-party compliance.
• Demonstrate UHS values in daily work and interactions.
• Execute duties to meet department needs.
