Job summary

Qualifications

• ACLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Current RN or APRN license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients for surgery including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of providers, surgeons, surgical technologists and more.
• Apply the nursing process with critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes and care provided.
• Educate patients and families about the medical condition, treatment, and follow-up steps.

Education

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Registered Nurse (RN)

Associate Degree or Registered Nurse Diploma
