Job summary

HCA Florida Northside Hospital in Saint Petersburg, FL is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. You will evaluate patients pre-surgery, educate families, prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative meds, and participate in site verification and universal protocols.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS required within 30 days of employment start date.
• NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Registered Nurse with an Associate Degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure.
• Prepare patients including intravenous therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols (briefing, time-out, debriefing).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of providers, surgeons, and staff.
• Apply the nursing process with critical thinking and leadership to ensure safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes throughout the shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up measures.
