Job summary

HCA Florida West Hospital in Pensacola, FL is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support surgical services in the operating room. You will provide care across the peri-operative process, educate patients and families, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities include preoperative assessment, IV therapy, medication administration, site verification, and adherence to universal protocols.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Qualified as an RN with nursing education (Associate Degree or RN Diploma).
• Certification and licensure requirements met for nursing practice.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education around the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
