Job summary

HCA Florida Northside Hospital in Saint Petersburg, FL is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. You’ll evaluate patients pre‑op, provide education to patients and families, administer IV therapy and preoperative meds, and ensure adherence to universal protocols to maintain patient safety.

You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology and nursing staff in a fast-paced OR setting, participate in time-out and debriefing, and participate in continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Florida.
• ACLS and BLS certifications obtained or within 30 days of employment.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Associate Degree in Nursing or higher.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and perioperative care.
• Administer IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Perform surgical site verification and participate in time-out and debriefing.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care using evidence-based practices.
