Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel to support the nursing team in perioperative and procedural settings. The role involves assisting with preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative tasks, stocking and inventory, and safe transport of patients and materials.

The position requires a high school diploma, completion of departmental orientation, and BLS/HeartSaver certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of departmental clinical support or PCA orientation.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Performs preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative support for surgical/procedural patients.
• Reports changes in patient condition to a RN and assists with supplies and equipment.
• Utilizes aseptic technique to open sterile supplies and prepare work areas.
• Transports patients and materials between areas and assists with transfers.
• Maintains inventory and stocking for supplies and equipment.
• Performs routine cleaning and housekeeping in procedural areas and Sterile Processing.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Clinical support or PCA orientation

Basic Life Support (BLS) or HeartSaver First Aid certification within 30 days
