Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee to function as a Surgical First/Second Assistant and ensure supplies and setup before incision under surgeon supervision.

The role requires BLS, CST/CSFA/CSA certifications within 12 months and typically 3 years of experience. We offer full-time hours, on-call obligations, and a sign-on bonus within a supportive health system.

Qualifications

• BLS for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 12 months.
• Surgical Technologist (CST) certification must be obtained within 12 months unless not required by leadership.
• Surgical First Assist (CSFA) certification must be obtained within 12 months unless not required by leadership.
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification must be obtained within 12 months unless not required by leadership.
• Typically requires 3 years of experience in a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Assistant position.

Responsibilities

• Functions as Surgical First or Second Assistant to the surgeon for complex and basic procedures.
• Anticipates and ensures required supplies are available for procedures prior to incision.
• Performs wound closure of tissues under general supervision of the surgeon.
• Positions and preps patient on the surgical table as needed.
• Acts as a resource and assists in training Surgical Technologists and new Surgical Assistants.
