Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH seeks a Surgical Technologist First Assist to support surgeons under RN supervision. You will prepare the field, assist in procedures, and help ensure safe patient positioning and wound management.

The role emphasizes teamwork with the RN, focus on patient-centered care, and adherence to regulatory standards while maintaining clinical excellence across operative steps.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with CFA/CAAHEP preferred.
• Certification: CSA, SA-C, CSFA or NBSTSA CSFA per requirements.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology and related science.
• Ability to use required software to perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain the surgical field under RN direction.
• Assist surgeon during operative procedures and provide exposure of the field.
• Anticipate and control hemostasis; assist with tissue handling and closure as directed.
• Prepare equipment, supplies, and instruments for procedures.
• Position patients safely under supervision and assist with wound dressing.
• Collaborate with the surgeon and care team to ensure patient safety.
