Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio seeks a Surgical First Assistant to provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and assist the surgeon during operative procedures. You will set up, maintain the surgical field, and support the team with instrumentation and hemostasis.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and ARC-ST/CAAHEP CFA training; certification options include CSA, SA-C, or NBSTSA CSFA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CFA program ARC-ST/CAAHEP preferred.
• Licensure options include CSA, SA-C, or CSFA certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon during operative procedures under RN direction.
• Set up and maintain surgical field and assist with case preparation.
• Handle instruments, exposure of the field, and hemostasis under supervision.
• Assist with wound closure and dressing application.
• Help secure drainage systems as needed.
