Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant to join our Operating Room team. The role supports the surgeon as first or second assistant and, when needed, serves as a second circulator under RN supervision.

We offer varied shifts and scheduling options to fit lifestyles and career goals. The ideal candidate has an Associate's Degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology, a certification (CSA/CST) or license, and 2+ years of OR scrub experience.

Qualifications

• Requires BLS within 30 days (AHA)
• CSA, CST or licensed Surgical Assistant certification preferred or eligible
• 2+ years operating room scrub experience
• Ability to assist in intraoperative activities and patient positioning

Responsibilities

• Applies asepsis to maintain a sterile field.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficiency.
• Performs intraoperative assisting (suctioning, retraction, camera holding).
• Maintains patient safety and adheres to hospital policies.
• Assists in room turnover and equipment charging.
• Preceptorship duties for medical students and residents.
