Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant to join our Operating Room team. The role supports the surgeon as first or second scrub tech or circulator under RN supervision, with various shifts to fit lifestyle and career goals.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire; CSA or CST or licensed surgical assistant preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years operating room scrub experience.
• Proven ability to maintain aseptic technique and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment and aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Assists in organization and coordination of supplies and equipment.
• Performs scrub duties and intraoperative assistance as first/second assistant.
• Maintains safety and compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Operates autoclave sterilization units and supports room turnover.
• Precepts medical students and residents during procedures.
