Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant to join our Operating Room team in Houston. The role supports the surgeon as a first or second assistant and works under RN supervision, with flexible shifts to fit lifestyle and career goals.

Qualifications include 2+ years in OR scrub and credentials such as BLS and CSA/CST/IDFPR licenses as applicable. The position offers a $5,000 sign-on and relocation assistance for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of operating room scrub experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment through aseptic technique.
• Manages supplies and equipment to support efficient operations.
• Performs intraoperative first assisting as required.
• Ensures patient, staff, and self safety and regulatory compliance.
• Applies anatomy knowledge to assist surgical procedures.
• Performs scrubbing duties as needed.
• Supports preceptor duties for students and residents.
• Charges for equipment and supplies.
• Assists in room turnover and instrument reprocessing.
• Aids in planning patient care with the nurse.
