Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a dedicated Surgical Assistant to join the Operating Room team. The role supports the surgeon as a first or second assistant, maintains asepsis, coordinates equipment, and participates in intraoperative tasks.

Full-time and part-time positions offer flexible scheduling and a $5,000 sign-on bonus with relocation support for eligible candidates. Qualifications include an Associate’s Degree or Surgical Technology training, BLS within 30 days, and 2+ years OR scrub

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Surgical Technology program completion required.
• Surgical Technology certification or equivalent licensure preferred.
• Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
• BLS certification within 30 days is preferred if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment and asepsis throughout procedures.
• Coordinates supplies and equipment for efficient operation.
• Performs intraoperative duties as first or second assistant.
• Prepares and turnovers rooms to support turnover times.
• Supports patient care planning with the nursing team.
• Assists during surgical procedures with suctioning, retracting, and instrument handling.
